Design Ops Lead – Tooling & Enablement,
Job Description
Overview
As the Design Ops Lead – Tooling & Enablement, you play a pivotal role in supporting the acceleration of productivity with AI and best-in-class Design tools. You drive initiatives that make it easy for designers to access the tools, resources, and operational support they need—whether that’s optimizing workflows, providing clear guides and self-serve resources, managing research tools, or acting as the “front door” for operational enablement. You proactively identify opportunities to enable efficiency through automation and the use of AI, partnering with others to implement solutions and measure their impact. By removing barriers and enabling the adoption of new processes and tooling, you enable designers to focus on their craft, collaborate effectively, and work more efficiently.
Responsibilities
Oversee the full design toolchain—from ideation and prototyping through to handover and documentation—ensuring a cohesive, low-friction workflow.
Partner internally across the Design Org and with technology teams to align on tooling needs, integrations and best practices.
Serve as the “enablement front door”: triage intake requests, guide designers through operational processes and tooling selection, and connect them with the right resources or support.
Manage research tooling for designers (e.g., Maze, Dovetail), including access, onboarding, and support, as part of the design toolchain
Lead pilots and structured evaluations for emerging tools: define success criteria, collect user feedback and make clear recommendations to scale, optimize or retire.
Coordinate procurement and vendor relationships: negotiate license terms, ensure compliance and manage renewals in collaboration with Legal and Finance.
Monitor tooling health and adoption metrics—such as usage rates, satisfaction scores and efficiency gains—to inform continuous improvement.
Maintain and evolve a self-service repository of guides, templates, FAQs, and process documentation to enable designers to resolve common challenges independently.
Stay informed on industry trends in design technology and AI, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance collaboration, innovation, and productivity.
Provide day-to-day support for tooling issues, escalating to IT or vendors as needed to minimize disruption.
